Generic Framing Procedure

The generic framing procedure (GFP) is an ITU standard adaptation technology that defines a flexible and efficient method of mapping different bitstream types into a SONET/SDH. The HSX 6000 supports GFP-F (GFP Frame) mapping only. Compared to GFP-T (GFP Transparent), GFP-F is much more suitable for carrying packet-based Ethernet traffic.
