Service Gateways

The HSX 6000 performs a number of Service Gateway functions to efficiently connect customers and interwork a wide range of protocols from disparate networks. Hammerhead has developed a high performance, scalable approach that provides optimal flexibility and efficiency. The interworking function in these Service Gateways takes traffic from disparate protocols including ATM PNNI, MPLS, VPLS and other Ethernet formats, and converts them to the appropriate protocol specific format required at the hand-off point.

Today, Hammerhead offers two Service Gateway applications: a Service Interworking Gateway and a PBB-TE Service Gateway.
