MANAGEMENT

Fault Management
Currently active alarm conditions, generated from managed network elements, are maintained in the active alarm summary table for retrieval. The details of each active alarm can be viewed by the user and then acknowledged or closed. Investigation notes can also be added by the user.

For each alarm generated, alarm logs capture and store the information on that alarm, even after it has been acknowledged and closed. Current alarm summaries can be sorted according to the following criteria:

Alarm Severity

Alarm Time

Alarm Type

Alarm Source

Configuration Management
After configuring a new node, the inventory, facilities, connections, and active alarm information can be viewed. This inventory management option allows the user to view the attributes of a node such as the slots, modules, and ports. Through this view, a user can set up or modify attributes of the NE.

Performance Management
Pegador SOA EMS software allows proactive monitoring of the platform’s overall performance health. Provisionable options allow the setup of performance counters that periodically poll the system and store the values for later retrieval and evaluation. The stored, sampled data inputs are displayed in a tabular or graph view, as requested by the user. Polling operations can be enabled according to user required intervals, and PM data collection can be suspended or resumed as needed. Performance reports include:

Capacity report

Connection report

Real time statistics

Inventory report

Service providers can also export performance data for input to existing databases systems, to provide service level reports, which enables providers to offer key differentiated services.

Security Management
Pegador SOA EMS’s security management functions provide users with secure access as well as limit permissions to those software operations that set up or modify system attributes. The identification and authentication management features prevent unauthorized users from tampering with or modifying network resource setups or configurations. Passwords are stored in a one-way encrypted form – that is, passwords in clear text are not available to any user, including appropriate administrators. All existing passwords are user changeable. Role management features setup flexible permission levels that can be assigned according to task requirements. Pegador SOA EMS maintains an audit trail through log files that track user activities. These logs capture successful or unsuccessful logon attempts, log out histories, and configuration or setup sessions.
