Senior Sales Engineer
Overview
Sales Engineering role with primary responsibility to assist the Account Executive(s) and Partners with the technical sales activities in new and existing opportunities. Sales Engineers must possess in-depth hands-on experience with leading industry edge L2/L3/L4 products and services, competitor’s products and can demonstrate solid networking skills to customers and partners. The Sales Engineer will assist with understanding customers requirements, their design of a comprehensive networking solution, delivering sales presentations, presenting technical information about products and services, conducting product demonstrations, installation product evaluations, presenting at seminars, responding to RFP's / RFI's and the technical development of Partners. The Sales Engineering role is a critical component to the sales team and is designed to display an in-depth knowledge about Hammerhead and industry products and solutions.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years Service Provider/Enterprise networking industry experience, including a practicing knowledge of TCP/IP. Proficient understanding of the pre-sales engineering and sales processes. Strong knowledge in L2/L3/L4 networking technologies and queuing theory is required. Proficient understanding of MPLS technology is required as well. Demonstrate strong written, oral and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision-makers. Experience in developing cost effective solutions around customer needs.
Travel: In Territory - 40% - 50%, Out of Territory 10% - 20%
The ideal candidate must excel in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines and be self-motivated and flexible, working closely with engineering, product marketing, and sales.
Responsibilities
Develop technical architecture documents for client applications.
Oversee the development of application notes and presentation material.
Key participant in detailed, technical presentations to prospects/clients.
Technical lead on RFx proposal response.
Key resource to daily interactions with existing clients.
Provide technical support to any/all Partners.
Maintain industry knowledge/expertise in L2/L3/L4 technologies/architectures.
Perform competitive analysis.
Perform Product Demonstrations/Assist in Lab Evaluations
Facilitate effective communications between customer, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Services.
Qualifications
Ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Minimum of 7 years of telecom industry experience (data networking and/or wireline telephony)
Strong working knowledge of Layer 2 technologies (FR, ATM, Ethernet)
Strong working knowledge of Layer 3 products, in particular Juniper and Cisco routers
Strong working knowledge of IP/MPLS technologies (OSPF, RSVP-TE, LDP, IS-IS
Working knowledge of PWE3 and PBT/PBB-TE
Education
Bachelors Degree in EE, CS, or equivalent experience
