ABOUT US
Hammerhead Systems was founded in 2002 to address the post-telecom bubble needs of service providers worldwide. The company is located in Mountain View, California, is privately held, and is backed by some of the leading venture capital investors in the industry.
The Hammerhead Difference
Hammerhead Systems is the market leader in Layer 2.5 Aggregation, Interworking and Migration solutions to accelerate the profitable delivery of new Ethernet (E-Line, E-LAN, and E-Tree) and existing circuit-based data services at a fraction of the cost and complexity of other solutions. Hammerhead’s MPLS and Ethernet aggregation and switching solutions address three major markets: Business Services, Residential Broadband, and Wireless Backhaul. Hammerhead’s solutions cost-effectively bridge the gap between purely greenfield Ethernet and MPLS networks with the vast installed base of circuit-based data services and legacy infrastructure (e.g., SONET/SDH, PPP, ATM, and Frame Relay), offering advanced new services while preserving existing revenue streams. Hammerhead serves a wide range of service provider customers including Tier 1 and Tier 2 global carriers, PTTs, national and regional retail and wholesale service providers, CLECs, IOCs, wireless operators, and cable MSOs.
Solutions
Hammerhead’s products include its carrier grade flagship platform, the HSX 6000 Layer 2.5 Aggregation Switch, and its feature-rich Pegador SOA Element Management System. With key architectural innovations as the underpinnings of its implementation, Hammerhead's Layer 2.5 solution is uniquely capable of combining the best of Layer 3 application awareness and MPLS control plane technology with the best of Layer 2 economics, operations, and interworking in a single platform that is optimized to accelerate service provider deployments of Ethernet-based metro infrastructure while seamlessly interworking with MPLS core networks.
HSX 6000
The HSX 6000 is the only purpose-built Layer 2.5 single box solution available offering dense Ethernet aggregation for E-Line, E-LAN and E-Tree Services, MPLS Pseudowire termination, VPLS, PBB-TE Service Gateway, Leased Line IP Aggregation, PPP/MLPPP, Frame Relay/MLFR, ATM/IMA, HDLC and EoS support, and Any-to-Any Service Interworking. The HSX 6000 uses its Bandwidth PoolingTM architecture and a best-in-class multiservice hierarchical QoS implementation to enable industry leading price/performance and unmatched levels of service segregation and SLA assurance, critical for robust aggregation of diverse data, video, and packet voice services feeding a common IP/MPLS core. The HSX 6000 leads the industry with its robust QoS implementation, unique in its support of the full set of MPLS, Ethernet, and ATM QoS combined with sophisticated traffic shaping and policing capabilities, and providing the scalability to handle large volumes of fine-grained flows.
Pegador SOA Element Management System
The Pegador SOA EMS is the first in the industry to support an SOA architecture, using XML/SOAP to enable service providers to build web applications that leverage the HSX 6000’s advanced QoS features to create differentiated service offerings with increased productivity and speed.
The Pegador SOA EMS is a comprehensive software application that is a key enabler for service providers offering next generation Ethernet services, along with circuit-based data services, over MPLS, Ethernet, ATM,or SONET/SDH transport networks. The Pegador EMS was designed and built with a symbiotic linkage to the HSX 6000 Layer 2.5 Aggregation Switch, enabling the EMS to fully exploit the agility and intelligence of the HSX 6000 platform.
